When surgery becomes the best option, trust the best surgeon
Dr. Reff is known and respected in both the local and medical community for his
meticulous surgical skill. He is a leader in Minimally Invasive Surgery (MIS), the
most advanced form of joint reconstructive surgery now available. It means that he can correct, repair, and replace damaged joints with as little impact to you as possible.

For many orthopaedic surgeons, MIS simply means using a smaller incision to limit
surface scarring. But the true intent of MIS is to avoid any unnecessary damage or trauma
to underlying muscles, nerves, and blood vessels as well. This is an important distinction. True MIS means a dramatic difference in your healing and recovery time. It can mean the difference between recovering in weeks instead of months.

Long before MIS was a fully developed surgical technique, Dr. Reff was using the underlying concepts of avoiding unnecessary damage or injury to body tissue. Again, the result for the patient was and still is more rapid recovery, less discomfort, and safe return to normal living with fewer post-operative limitations or restrictions. In short, Dr. Reff has distinguished himself in the South Bay medical community for this uncompromising level of care and expertise on behalf of his patients.

Advantages of Minimally Invasive Surgery:
• Rapid recovery
• Less discomfort after surgery
• Aaccurate positioning of artificial joints
• Fewer post-operative restrictions
• Faster return to normal living

The newest emerging technology to advance total joint surgery is Computer-Assisted Orthopaedic Surgery. This approach, especially when combined with MIS technique, further aids in the accurate positioning of artificial joints. Once again at the forefront of advancements that will most help his patients, Dr. Reff is completing a study of the first 200 total joint replacements done with computer assisted techniques.

Dr. Reff supervises a team whose goal is to streamline our  patients’ experience while undergoing their joint replacement procedure and bring them back to a normal lifestyle  free of their pre-op arthritis related  pain and disability.

We emphasize pre-op education of our patients, pre-op introduction to their upcoming physical therapy and exercise routine, pre-op home safety preparation, and thorough pre-op preparation and medical clearance in collaboration with each patient’s primary care physician or internist.

We provide our patients with extensive information and education related to their upcoming surgery including pre-op meetings in our office with admitting, discharge and surgical floor nurses from the hospital, and, physical therapists dedicated to our patients’ protocols before and after surgery.

In addition, in partnership with our team’s anesthesiologists, we use updated anesthetic and pain control methods to aid in achieving more post-operative comfort and less narcotic related post-op nausea and drowsiness

As a result, patients can have shorter hospital stays, easier rehabilitation, and quicker return to their normal activities.

In short, we CARE, and hopefully this is reflected in better outcomes for our patients.
